Artist In Residence – LLael MacDonald

Thanks to our generous sponsors, entrants & visitors, money raised from 2019 will help fund an Artist in Residence (Llael MacDonald) at Trentham and Bullarto Primary Schools.

Llael McDonald is an internationally selling artist of twenty years. Living in provincial Victoria, her work is inspired by her surroundings and depicts the everyday landscape in a fantastical light. Llael’s pieces feature recognisable Victorian backdrops, brushed with an element of fantasy and haunting beauty, creating a narrative that extends beyond the boundaries of the canvas and is changeable from viewer to viewer. She has sold her work in Australia, the US and Europe and has recently studied with Presidential portrait artist Mark Carder in his studios in Austin Texas. Llael has been commissioned to do album covers, murals and paintings for private collections in Australia and internationally. She has been a finalist in numerous art prizes and exhibited in  Australia, New York and Miami Basel. She was an original founder of WRAN (Western Regional Arts Network) and has helped develop many public arts initiatives, including “Art in Public Places” which was run in conjunction with the Williamstown Arts Festival and “Free Your Art” in Trentham Victoria. She regularly teaches oil painting workshops in her studio in country Victoria.
